Duphalac® provide a long-lasting constipation relief, with its Dual Action: - Effective Laxative for gentle cleansing - Prebiotic effect to restore microflora balance for long-term As a prebiotic substance, lactulose intensifies the growth of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, while Clostridium and Escherichia coli may be suppressed, leading to alleviation of constipation.. Duphalac® can be used to produce soft stools after colon/anal surgery, and for treatment of Hepatic encephalopathy, a liver disease causing confusion, tremor, decreased evel of consciousness. Duphalac® may contain small amounts of milk sugars (e.g. lactose), galactose, epilactose or fructose.
Product Directions:
Dosing in Constipation or for Stool Softening:
- Adult Starting Dose: 10ml - 45ml
- Adult Maintenance Dose: 10ml - 25ml
- Children (7-14 years) Starting Dose: 15ml
- Children (7-14 years) Maintenance Dose: 10ml - 15ml
- Children (1-6 years) Starting Dose: 5ml - 10ml
- Children (1-6 years) Maintenance Dose: 5ml - 10ml
- Infants (Under 1 year) Starting Dose: Up to 5ml
- Infants (under 1 year) Maintenance Dose: Up to 5ml
Dosing in Hepatic encephalopathy (for Adults only):
- Starting dose: 30ml - 50ml, 3 times daily
This dose may be adjusted by your doctor to the maintenance dose to achieve 2 to 3 soft stools per day.
